This was a project I shot on 35mm film. I grew up in rural Ireland but now live in Dublin, two homes that massively juxtapose each other. I find it hard to marry feeling such an identity with such different places. One evening, I walked through Dublin city centre – from the top of Camden St through to Temple Bar, and up Abbey, Henry and O’Connell to Parnell. I photographed neon signs that had regularly caught my eye, of buildings that I walked past everyday. When this roll of film was finished, I set it in my camera to double expose (use again), and over the top of the images of the artificial city, I shot pictures of my home town. Neon/Nature, burned together.
